Notable Achievements:

  1. First Latin American Congress on Rare Diseases: Successfully convened the inaugural event, bringing together experts and stakeholders to address critical issues in rare diseases.
  2. Consensus Conferences: Conducted consensus conferences on Digital Pathology, Prostate Cancer, and NMOSD testing in Latin America, fostering collaborative solutions and setting the stage for future advancements.
  3. Access to Medicines Landscape Analysis: Undertook a comprehensive landscape analysis on access to medicines for rare diseases in Latin America, including a targeted survey in Brazil.
  4. Strategic Partnerships: Established new partnerships with healthcare organizations across Latin America, amplifying the impact of our initiatives.
  5. Newsletter and Newsroom Launch: Introduced our newsletter and newsroom, serving as valuable platforms for disseminating information and fostering collaboration.
  6. Alzheimer’s Disease Article: Published a groundbreaking article on Alzheimer’s Disease, featuring insights from 15 Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) across 9 countries, providing recommendations and treatment algorithms.
  7. Global Presence: Presented posters at prominent events like the ESMO Congress and World Orphan Drug Congress, showcasing our commitment to international collaboration.
  8. Patient Group Commitment: Secured official letters of commitment from 10 Latin American patient groups in Rare Diseases, affirming their support for our initiatives.
  9. Agenda and Priorities: Established a clear agenda and priorities for advancing our work on the rare disease front, ensuring sustained impact.
  10. Project Initiatives: Initiated projects such as the 1st Latin American Congress on Rare Diseases, ongoing research on orphan drugs, and collaboration with KC Social Lab on Health Literacy in Women’s Health.

As we look ahead to 2024, we are pleased to share our plans for the upcoming year:

  1. Consensus Conference on Multiple Myeloma in Brazil’s Bispecific Era:
    Delving into the intricacies of multiple myeloma care in Brazil, this conference will bridge knowledge gaps, fostering collaboration and innovation in the ever-evolving landscape of healthcare.
  2. Latin American Biosimilars Access Study:
    A comprehensive exploration of biosimilar accessibility throughout Latin America, this study aims to unravel key insights that will contribute to informed decision-making and enhanced patient outcomes.
  3. Colorectal Cancer Management in MENA: Expert Opinion Consensus Conference:
    Bringing together leading experts, this conference will provide the latest insights into colorectal cancer management in the Middle East and Northern Africa, guiding practitioners towards optimal patient care.
  4. The second Latin American Congress on Rare Diseases
    Building on the success of our inaugural congress, the second edition promises to be a gathering of minds dedicated to addressing the unique challenges of rare diseases in our region.
  5. Continuity Awareness Campaigns:
    In 2024, we launch awareness campaigns to sustain the impact of several of our 2023 initiatives.
