AHF has appointed Dr. Mariana Rico as the new Vice President, effective January 19, 2024. With five years of experience at AHF, Mariana assumes the role following her contributions and commitment to AHF and healthcare initiatives in Latin America.

AHF President, Dick Salvatierra, stated, “Mariana has not only the best interest of the Americas Health Foundation but also the best interest of everyone working with and involved in the organization.”

Dr. Mariana Rico commented, “In my time at AHF, I´ve witnessed firsthand the impactful strides we´ve made in the growth of our organization and towards advancing access to quality healthcare in Latin America. As Vice President, my focus will remain steadfast on furthering our mission to transform healthcare landscapes across the region. Today, our healthcare systems stand at a pivotal juncture, where innovation, strategic partnerships, and advocacy have never been more relevant. I believe that together, we can overcome the challenges and unlock new opportunities to make healthcare more accessible, efficient, and equitable.”

In other developments, AHF is proud to announce the Second Congress on Rare Diseases for Latin America and the Caribbean, scheduled to take place on October 24th and 25th in Bogota, Colombia. Building upon insights from our inaugural congress in 2023 will be led by AHF and hosted in conjunction with ERCAL. This policy-driven event aims to advance rare disease care and promote collaboration among stakeholders in the region.
