She holds a degree in Medicine from the Federal University of Health Sciences of Porto Alegre (1987), a master's degree in Biological Sciences (Genetics) from the University of São Paulo (1995) and a PhD in Child and Adolescent Health from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (2002). Postdoctoral work at the University of Iowa. She is currently a geneticist at the Medical Genetics Service at Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre. She is one of the coordinators of the Genomic Medicine Laboratory at the Experimental Research Center at HCPA and a professor at the Graduate Program in Child and Adolescent Health at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. She is the coordinator of the Reference Center for Osteogenesis Imperfecta at the HCPA.
