According to the World Federation of Hemophilia, Brazil has, in absolute numbers, the third largest population of patients with hemophilia. As such, in December of 2018, AHF convened a workshop on hemophilia in São Paulo entitled “Workshop: Updating Public Policy on Early Diagnosis and Optimal Treatment of Hemophilia in Brazil.” Dr. Stephen Stefani moderated the workshop that included participants from among hematologists, hemocenter representatives, medical societies and patient advocacy organizations, and patients. The robust discussion included topics such as harmonizing hemophilia treatments, the impact on families and caretakers, capturing and diagnosing patients, and treatment logistics and accountability.
