on Covid-19 in Latin America

COVID-19
in Latin America

The Covid-19 pandemic has tested the response capacity of the world’s health systems and has exposed the lag in terms of universal and effective coverage and has unequivocally disrupted “normal living.” Within these disruptions, cancer patients have seen an unfortunate change in care and treatment-related activities. While stakeholders may acknowledge a delay in treating cancer patients, these entities likely do not have data to quantify the number of patients impacted and the potential associated costs with this delay in treatment. Countries around the world face challenges in public and fiscal policy, which has led to a rethinking of budget allocations between and within sectors. Although the challenges caused by the pandemic are global, these can be more or less exacerbated due to the deficiencies accumulated in the already-fragile health system of Latin America and the Caribbean. One of the indirect effects of the Covid-19 pandemic has been the interruption of pre-existing health services and delays in diagnosis, especially for cancer. While stakeholders may acknowledge a delay in cancer diagnosis and care, these entities likely do not have data to quantify the number of patients impacted and the potential associated costs with this delay in diagnosis in treatment. Thus, Americas Health Foundation (AHF) proposes the use of an online survey to determine the true impact on multiple stakeholders.

Oncologists, please take our survey below. After completing the survey, you will be entered to win 1 of 3 USD $500 prizes.
